ABOUT ME PIC

The Journey

Thank you for choosing to support local – I’m truly grateful you’re here.

Back in 2006 (yes, I may be dating myself!), I launched the Strathroy Area: keepin’ it local® magazine with one simple goal: to celebrate and support the amazing people, businesses and community groups that make this area such a wonderful place to call home.

Strathroy is my home too, and I’m proud to say that StrathroyArea.ca is 100% locally owned and operated. As a local business owner running a creative agency focused on digital and print media, I wanted to create something meaningful – something that gives back, amplifies good news, and celebrates the heart of our community.

The idea grew from a deep appreciation for our community and a desire to help it thrive. I often heard how people were heading to the big city for shopping or entertainment – not out of disinterest, but simply out of habit, unaware of what was already here. That stuck with me. I wanted to help shift that mindset by showcasing the incredible businesses, events and volunteers right here at home.

What began as a once-a-year print magazine grew into a seasonal publication and has now transformed from a print magazine into this fully digital platform – all thanks to the incredible support of this community. At every step, it’s been important to me that the content remains free and accessible, so everyone can feel connected to life in our community.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people – hardworking entrepreneurs, dedicated volunteers, and passionate leaders whose stories continue to inspire me and shape the content shared. This online Community Network Platform is rooted in community spirit and the belief in what’s possible when we lift each other up. It exists to highlight good news, support small businesses, showcase local events, and celebrate those making a difference. None of this would be possible without your amazing support. So, thank you for being here and helping make it all happen.

Whether you're looking for something to do, a business to support, or a way to get involved, I hope you find it here. Thanks for being part of it and for supporting local life!

Community begins with you – let’s keep growing it together.

Angela
