Four-Day Community Celebration in Watford Honours 100 Years of the Royal Canadian Legion

The Royal Canadian Legion Watford Branch 172 is inviting the community to join in a special four-day celebration marking the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th Anniversary. From Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, the Watford branch will celebrate this incredible milestone with a weekend full of entertainment, activities, food, and opportunities to connect with family, friends, and neighbours.

This anniversary celebration honours the rich history and legacy of the Royal Canadian Legion while recognizing the important role Watford Branch 172 has played in supporting veterans, serving the community, and bringing people together for generations.

The celebrations begin at 4pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026 with an Open Game Night, inviting guests to enjoy a fun and casual evening of games and socializing. Participants can join in for cornhole, darts, pool, and other games, while enjoying drinks and an open bar. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bags and darts and take part in a night of friendly competition and community connection.

Friday’s festivities officially begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special bagpipe performance and opening ceremony, kicking off the anniversary celebrations.

The evening continues with an meat raffle, 50/50 draw, and Catch the Ace. Guests can then enjoy live music from Off the Cuff as the celebration continues with great entertainment and a chance to celebrate this historic milestone together.

Saturday July 18 offers a full day of activities for all ages. The day begins with a performance of traditional bagpipe music at 1:00 p.m., followed by family-friendly activities from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Children can enjoy an afternoon of creativity and fun featuring an entertainer colouring contest, face painting, and a photo booth where families and friends can capture special memories together.

From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., enjoy live entertainment from Sisters of Choice, a talented local trio bringing audiences the hits from the 1940s through the 1970s with stunning harmonies, costume changes, and choreography.

The evening continues with a delicious rib dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., featuring all the fixings, followed by line dancing from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Guests are invited to hit the dance floor, enjoy the music, and celebrate together.

The four-day celebration wraps up on Sunday with a community breakfast from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Guests are invited to enjoy a morning meal and spend one final opportunity connecting with the community while celebrating 100 years of the Royal Canadian Legion Watford Branch 172.

Everyone is welcome to attend this milestone celebration and help commemorate a century of service, remembrance, friendship, and community spirit.
