The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) Auxiliary has proudly supported local healthcare since 1914.
As a dedicated volunteer organization, they have played a vital role in enhancing patient care through ongoing fundraising efforts and strong community support.
Thanks to the generosity of the surrounding area, the Auxiliary has raised more than $2 million since its early beginnings.
Today, their mission continues with a new goal: raising $250,000 over the next five years to fund essential advancements in patient care.
Their current focus is the purchase of Workstations on Wheels (WOWs). These mobile units bring advanced technology directly to the patient’s bedside, allowing healthcare teams to document in real-time and verify medications safely and efficiently. WOWs help improve workflow, support faster decision-making, and enhance the overall experience for both patients and their families.
Each WOW unit costs approximately $10,000, and every contribution helps move this important initiative forward.
Funds raised will directly support the purchase of these units for nursing teams in the Emergency Department, as well as on Floors 1 and 2 of the hospital. To support this initiative, the SMGH Auxiliary has partnered with the Strathroy Rotary Club to host a special fundraising event — the Great Gatsby Gala.
Taking place on May 2 from 7pm to midnight at the Willow Tree Events Centre in Strathroy, this ladies-only evening will bring the elegance and excitement of the roaring 1920s to life. Guests are encouraged to dress in Gatsby-inspired attire and enjoy a night out in support of local healthcare. Every ticket purchased helps bring vital equipment to the front lines of patient care at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.
Event Update:
Unfortunately, the Great Gatsby Gala has been cancelled. However, the SMGH Auxiliary continues to raise funds for Workstations on Wheels (WOWs), and any support toward this important initiative is greatly appreciated.
