Strathroy Lions Auction Proudly Celebrates more than 50 Years of Community Tradition

It’s once again time to fire up your ­computer, your phone or your tablet and experience the thrill of competing for merchandise and services galore as the Strathroy Lions Club asks the community to support its 2025 Online Auction.

Celebrating more than 50 years, the ­annual ­auction will take place on Monday, December 1 at 8am and run through Wednesday, December 10 at 5pm.

Item pickup is available December 13 and 14 at the Lions Hall at 432 Albert Street, Strathroy. The Strathroy Lions Club ­auction has evolved over the years, recently transitioning to an online-only ­format for bidding. This change was ­implemented to adapt to declining participation in traditional phone bidding, and now features items displayed on their ­auction website or through the club’s website, listed at the end of this article.

Stock up on presents from your Christmas shopping list, or maybe get a ­little something for yourself; the variety of items up for bid range from gift cards to hockey tickets to household items and jewelry. Items available are now open to view, but make sure to check the website often, as additional items may be uploaded or new bids made – the action can be fierce.

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and bid on an item. Bidders are responsible for checking their bid history on the site to see if they have won any items and for completing ­payment information. As a main source of fundraising each year, the resulting proceeds raised through these auctions are directed toward various local initiatives, including medical equipment for local health ­facilities, community events, youth programs and support for individuals and families in need. As always, the community and local businesses continue to be ­generous and supportive with their ­donations, which in large part contributes to the success of the event year after year.

The Strathroy Lions Club was ­established in 1924 and formed in 1925, beginning with fundraising efforts for a local swimming pool, which opened in 1950 after 25 years of planning. Over their years of operation, the Lions have been involved in numerous community service projects and continue to ­support local needs through fundraising and ­volunteer work, playing a vital role in enhancing the quality of life in Strathroy-Caradoc.
